Varying Clarity of Press Photos

The images on movie and music press photos, news service photos and wirephotos vary greatly. Some are crystal clear from the original negative, while others are grainy or muddy as they are second generation. This means when bidding online on a press photo, one should wonder about the quality of the image. It is often difficult to impossible to tell the clarity form an online auction image.
