Old News Service Stamps

News services (i.e. Associated Press, United Press International) placed their ink stamp on a photo’s back. As some news services dissolved many years ago, the presence of their stamp on a photo’s back helps prove the photo is not a modern reprint.

Some of these old stamps include Bain News Service, ACME Newspictures, United Press or United Press Association (Not to be confused with United Press International, aka UPI), Pacific & Atlantic, International News Photos, Underwood and Underwood & Underwood.
