Standard Catalog
of Baseball Cards, Edited by Bob Lemke (Krause Publications)
Beckett Almanac of Baseball Cards and Collectables (Beckett Publications)
The collector should own and regularly reference one of the above
price guides. These are monster-sized, over 1,000 pages each.
Be careful when purchasing, as the publishers also publish highly
abridged versions. While the pricing should be taken with a grain
of salt, each book checklists and details most standard issues
from the 1800s to today. The beginning collector should stick
with cards cataloged in these guides. Both guides are available
at amazon.com, Barnes and Noble and many major brick and mortar
stores.
